Trying to use Clutch Start Cancel button as toggle for LED Ditch Lights

Hey all, I've got a set of Rigid LED Ditch Lights installed on my 3rd Gen TRD Pro DCSB Automatic, they're working fine, but they're currently wired to one of those simple red switches (the kind that light up red when the switch is in the "on" position).

I don't want to cut holes in my truck, so I purchased an OEM "Clutch Start Cancel" button to use instead, as it's the only 'blank' on the dash where I could use an OEM switch. I've got the button and the harness that plugs into the back, and I'm planning to use the existing RIGID wires (as Toyota wants $100 for about 10 inches of OEM wires) installed into the harness, and mounting the button in that blank spot near my left knee.

My question is about which wire goes where in the harness... I can't find a good wiring diagram for the Clutch Start Cancel button, especially since I'm not intending to use it for an actual Clutch Start Cancel button. I was hoping some automotive electrical geniuses might be able to help guide me!

there should be 3 wires coming from that switch. the switch hot, the hot for the backlight and the ground. Get some wire, a 9V battery and LED or other small light and hook it up/ play with it until you can get the switch to turn the light on and off. Then you know.

Alternatively you can buy what was posted above (also available on eBay, Amazon, etc. )...

 

The issue with those are they don't fit the only blank I have... the Clutch Start Cancel button appears to be a different size than all the other blanks on the truck...

 

OP unless they changed the switch design in the 3rd gens (as far as I know, no) the clutch start IS the same size as that switch posted above. It does have a bezel around it unlike the other switches, making it appear a different size.

 

The battery idea is a great one, i can def play with that. Just obv don't want to hook up to truck and risk blowing fuses or worse. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion @CaliRaisedLed ... after screwing around with the OEM Clutch Start cancel switch and harness (with zero wiring diagrams anywhere), I gave up that idea. Would have been fun to have an automatic Tacoma with a button specific to Manuals, just to mess with people...

Gunna bite the bullet and get the Cali Raised switch, since A) looks easy AF to install and B) it's cheaper... assuming my dealership lets me return the $40 OEM button, since it's still unused. Wish me luck on that... ordering your switch now!
