Thinking of all the little sounds my truck has made since I got it and know how annoying it was to chase them down.
I’ve had the HPFP, loose LCAS clunking, unbalance tires, squeaking leafs and several more.
Can we have a thread just to help each other with these weird sounds? :annoyed:

If there’s already a thread like this mods please delete.

If not I’ll start. Because I believe I have a new one.
For about a month I’ve had a jingling sound coming from the rear of my truck. It literally sounds like a jingle bell
I only get this sound when coasting at any speed (never if I’m on the gas or brakes) it’s louder over bumps but constant.
I can replicate it by picking up and dropping the tailgate. But it comes and goes. (Maybe every other day) something has to be loose somewhere but I just can’t seem to find it. Everything I can think of is torqued.
I’ll be opening the tailgate next to poke around.

    Anyone else have this sound?

Any other sounds coming from your truck?

Rattle type noise when no one is in my passenger side seat and also somewhere in maybe my RH side dash area. It’s annoying but oh well

I have had this come from 2 locations on my truck:

#1 the shackle receiver I put in my hitch for recoveries, the D ring would jingle and sway over bumps or with acceleration or deceleration.

#2 the chain for the spare tire hoist.. I used a bungee cord to secure that one.

Going to try the bungee on the chain idea.
Appreciate the response and I’ll update.

The a/c huffing and puffing, also the exhaust sounds like a ricer. At least the engine on the 4 cyl is fairly normal sounding and not all the rattling and clacking from the previous v6

Clunk up front either sway bar to frame or lower control arms. Bork of these have been an issue and each one has been an issue. Leaf squeak, Dakars have plastic pucks that can be greased. Well most of them. You have to jack up the rear and take the weight off the rear and separate the leafs with a s rew driver or pry bar then grease the contact points.

Oh yeah one more thing, the over head console squeak. If you remove the overhead console there is a piece of hard plastic that is supposed to be glued to the head liner. Mine came apart and squeaked when it was cold out so I pulled the console and reglued the hard plastic to the head liner and no squeaks since. This one really annoyed me.

It may be the felt between the dash and the A pillar. Mine squeaked and I ended up removing the a pillar plastic and removing a little plastic with no more squeak

I have this too. I’ve heard in vehicles without automatic headlights, there’s a hole at the passenger side dash speaker. Where the daylight sensor would be. Some have removed that plug and used Teflon tape or just glued it in so it doesn’t rattle.
I haven’t tried it yet though.

Got the cold dash squeak from tweeter cover on right side. Got an annoying popping from front somewhere, only after driving for a period of time. Thinking it’s in brake calipers. People jump and ask “what was that” if walking by in parking lot. Did the poly-urethane bushing swap. Think that was a separate noise. Other than that, it’s pretty quite.

Use some adhesive felt and apply to anywhere plastic touches plastic between A-pillar and tweeter grill.

Look for any loose wires as that could also cause a noise.

There at least 2 large thread here about the noises.

If it ain't got the "taco tick" it ain't a taco... Do you get the screaming howl when you drive in a heavy cross wind? Luckily there is a button on the steering wheel and a small knob above the 4WD switch where you can crank up the Skynyrd and all of your noises and cares fade away...

Thanks, but that's not quite the noise i am sufferring from. I read those two big threads. those sounds are more "tapping" sounds. my sound is definitely metal vibrating. maybe a tweeter went bad or something... i just havn't made the effort to open it up and see what metal is in there.
