So I've been back and forth on this. What are everyone else's thought. Tires With winter months on the way its time to pull the trigger. 255/85/16 or 285/75/16 these are the two tire sizes i have been going back and forth on. Let me back up I a happy owner of a 17' TRD PRO, I've seen other forum posts that say the 285 will fit all day under the TRD PRO, but do i really want to risk the possible tire rubbing.. At the same time do i want to go Skinny and tall.. I cant make my mind up. Whats everyone's thoughts on this or should i ditch the idea and try something in the middle like a 275 even. Gosh so many options tell me what you think!

Which do you think you need? My tire selection is based on utility

You will rub the wider ties. I have a lift and have trimmed some minor plastic and mine still rubs at times. It doesn't bother me anymore though.

Realistically neither but the truck needs new tires. And i figured this would be a good time to change up the look of the truck, the OEM factory selection just is weak for my personal lookers ha.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Stock size BFG Commercial T/A Traction tires have been superb for the last 6 years and they still look like new

The Commercial T/A traction are a “sleeper” tire. I know a couple guys who run them on their Toyotas and have good things to say.

Not aggressive enough for my liking. I'm sure these are good for keeping the MPG, but lets be honest it already sucks.

With that being said, I'm looking for something with an aggressive look, I live in Maine so winters sucks. And i do a little bit light off roading/trailing. Yes i use my PRO in the mud and she loves it!

Even 265/75r16 handles winters up there well.

Huh.....the T/A traction is one of the most aggressive steet-legal tires BFG makes.

If you're looking for a skinny 33 options are limited. I kicked around the idea but personally E rated is a little overkill for a midsize

I ended up going the 275 route on my truck. It seemed like a pretty good middle ground. It’s certainly bigger than the stock 265’s and really doesn’t look much smaller than a 285 in a side to side comparison (I had Discount Tire do a comparison while shopping). The best deal is that it doesn’t require a cab mount chop to fit, which was my biggest concern. With that being said, if you like the tall and skinny look you will get a couple more tire choices.

with the 275 option what height did you choose and what brand? . Im leaning more to this option, i have noticed its mostly 10ply for the tall skinny's and I also am not about to cut body mounts for the added room,

You could always buy some used Sport wheels and get LT255/75R17 tires.

Not exactly in the market to change wheels or wheel size yet. Looking to stick with the 16''s

If you don't want to run an E rated tire you'll have a hard time with the sizes you're looking at with a 16" wheel. "New" wheels won't cost much as long as you go with some used OE wheels that someone took off of their new truck.
