Does anyone else think this thread is starting to suck with all the back and forth BS of things non related to Tacos? I am here for pictures and ideas of MODs to do to my tacoma. Take all the bickering and BS to another thread

Anyway, I installed full RCI skids to my taco. Install went well and only took a few hours. The truck rides so much more smooth now with the added weight, I didn't expect that at all. The skids feel extremely beefy and with the added cross member I think it could really support some weight.

All steel, and 3/16 thick on everything. There are internal gussets and bracing on each piece (belly skids are a 4 piece set) to prevent buckling under load. I am a steel fabricator and I can recognize solid engineering and quality work. Only one hole out of 28 some odd bolts didn't line up and with an assist of a BFH I got it aligned and bolted up tight. The one bolt had an internal tube that goes up to the frame and it got out of square while welding it. The tube just needed a few taps and it was back into alignment with the oem attachment holes.

Overall I like them a lot and would recommend. I got the whole set (belly skids, LCA skids and rear diff skids for 1000$ delivered. RCI is close to me so shipping was only 60$

The TSS garnish just simply wouldn't fit so I dremeled the outlining area on the grill. Kinda bummed I had to spend the money on the dremel tool but I guess I could return it haha. Also I will be shaving slots for my raptor lights and will only be using 3 lights instead of 4. Here's the video showing the concept at 1:11 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlo1MJgI3vg&t=94s

Not something I've done, but something I'm looking to do...

I see a change of wheels in my near future. SCS ever have any sales?

I'm wondering if I should hold off until the holidays.

I've never seen SCS do a sale....they sell out in about 5 minutes every time they get a new stock of wheels.

Sleeping platform inspired by the 2nd gen thread. Maybe $45 in materials and an hour or so to throw together... https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...cheap-works-great.108524/page-7#post-21505194

I would say my carpentry skills are pretty damn good for someone who's never carpeted anything in my life lol. One of the plywood halves was slightly warped so I guess I learned my lesson about choosing better lumber before sending it to the back to be cut :rofl:Won't make a difference with a 3 inch mattress pad and blankets in there though. Fun little project to get ready for ski season and fall camping.

You could check out their blems. Probably the closest they come to a sale. Or used.
