Well you said it! The weight!! Unless you somehow fab up a frame mounted tray it’s going to destroy your sheet metal with even moderate off-road driving let alone washboard, rocks and high speed stuff.

Edit, you guys don’t have usable beds anymore anyway, should consider relocating the battery to the bed

I've had mine for a while now and haven't pulled any punches. No issues yet. Even had a few post-flight impacts that the first thing I did was go and look at the battery tray after I confirmed I wasn't dumping fluids. Offroad race tracks can sneak up on ya sometimes with the whoop sections and sudden riverbeds.

Double check your research and calculations. Most high end group 31s weigh about 80 lbs. Most high end group 35s weight about 50 lbs. sooooo 50X2=100, 80x1= 80. I used Odyssey as a source and example. Now if you compare a junk group 35 to a nice group 31, yes, the 31 will be much much heavier. But apples to apples, two group 35s are heavier than a 31.

    Lol dude. Impressive math!
Not sure where I advocated for a “junk” 35 battery or for using a dual battery set up but I digress.
I’m happy with my one and only 27 batt.

...back to fridges. Who needs a cold one?!?

I see, you were comparing stock group 27 to a group 31. That was never in question though. We were debating 2 group 35s vs 1 group 31. And this is very relevant conversation to this thread, so it's not hijacking. Mike (OP) can let me know if he feels otherwise though.

depends on the total amperage you intend to run in the bed.

14 awg is the smallest I'd run from the battery to the bed due to the length of the wire

Question: If you put the same items in this and in an ice chest is this appreciably less weight than using ice?

It's lighter by a lot. The fridge is super light. Much lighter than nice hard side coolers.

Yup...that'll give you extra capacity too if you want to do lighting or a usb charger.

@Mike's Custom Toys I read that this fridge takes 0.7 to 2.5 Ah, but do you have an actual current rating on the fridge?
