    Good afternoon.

About nine months ago, I was tasked to replace a head gasket for a friend on his 1995 Tacoma 2.7. Long story short this was the 4th time he overheated it and the head was cracked. Dumbly, I suggested he replace the engine since we found a reman online for a little over the cost of sorcing another head and having it worked. Anyways, it took an abnormal amount of time to get the long block delivered and i have since forgot a couple of things.

I need assistance routing the wiring harness as well as identifying a plug as well of location of what looks to be some hot wires. I appreciate any input.

    Thank you.

    Stock. EZ pass.Dump pass.Inspection sticker.Convict printed lic.plates.FG cap.
If its brown it goes to ground. Other oem connectors either fit or do not but wire color codes should all match. Engine swaps can be intimidating at first. Take it slow be methodical.

Yeah, the first is a ground. I think it is bolted to the bottom of the intake manifold. The black plastic service connector mounts on the intake toward the front.

The second pic looks like the connector for the low oil pressure switch somewhere on the left side of the block. It might be for the AC compressor. Someone else will know better than me.

That wasn’t dumb. I would have done the same thing. He overheated the lower end four times too...

As DrZ says, the first pic is a ground connection bolted to the bottom of the intake right by the VSV for the fuel,? whatever that is having a senior moment,,,, it's at the front of the intake easy access,,

the other one is hard to really tell from the pic, but I looked at my truck and it looks like the plug going to harness on the MAF sensor,,, not the sensor itself but there's a plug right down from the connector in the harness,,, or it could be the one for the sensor that plugs into the filter box, I think it measures temp inside the box, I can't remember.

I took some pics of mine to show you but I can't attach them here,,, dummy on this end.

Yup. I have that same dummy plug. It deadends by the plug for the Maf, the other certainly is engine block ground

Looks like it might be for the coolant temperature sender for the gauge. See the sensor on the water outlet on the right side of the picture.

Thank you everyone very much. truck is alive but bleeding oil out of the head... Sheesh... this is a later model head i am guessing because the other head does not have any such holes on the side of it. any help identifying what goes in here would be great...

The later models (98+ maybe) had coil packs instead of a distributor, so the camshaft position sensor was moved to that hole. On earlier models with a distributor the camshaft position sensor was integrated into the distributor. You need a block-off plate to seal that opening. Maybe wherever you got the head can get one for you.
