I bought 10 bags of corn from a friend a few weeks ago. He came by today and said “bring your truck over and get some corn, I need some room for the corn I’m about to pick”. Took the Duramax, loaded all I could shovel for today, no charge.

Our son and I went out to throw the baseball about 7:15 and this deer was standing by the goat lot. I said see how close you can get. It was about 25-30 yards.

I guess it's a personal preference, but I can't think of a better way to ruin venison than add beef fat. I've never had deer, elk, moose, or caribou that I thought needed beef added to it. Mnt goat has enough marbled fat it's not an issue, and I guess for that reason it's my go to for actual hamburgers. I know a lot of people have their deer mixed with beef, so I'm probably in the minority.

I like mine with nothing mixed in...takes away from the real flavor of wild game IMO.

We eat most of our deer meat as whole muscle but I always mix some fat into the little burger we do make because otherwise it’s so lean and dry and I like a juicy greasy burger :)
Not just any old fat will do either. Brisket trimmings for the win here lol

If I grind my own I don't add fat, if I take it to a processor I get 10% fat added (beef) they don't charge extra for it so instead of 20 lbs of burger I get 22lbs... I mean I guess I am paying for the weight but at $1 a lb that's and extra $2 well spent imo... Tacos, chili, meatloaf, Salisbury steak... Oh man I gotta get some more meat in the freezer

Yeah. Thankfully my family likes wild game. We haven’t cooked any kind of beef in our house in many years. I’m having moose tacos tonight. Sometimes I do mix with egg to make burgers stick together better, but usually not.

I eat beef when we go out to eat, so it’s not like I don’t like it, it’s just not part of our home diet. A moose or elk every other year and 5-6 deer a year is a lot of meat.

Apply every year for MT, but all I have is points. Go to BC every other yr for either elk or moose.

Really varies based on area and trophy quality. Plus, I’ve hunted with the same outfitters for years and get a decent discount. $6-10K would be a decent range, although you can certainly spend more. Those hunts also usually include black bear and deer and can be combined with mnt goat.

Mostly I hunt in SE BC so I can drive and bring home all the meat.

The top picture is my moose from around 8yrs ago

Nice! Thats kinda what I figured...Idaho has a bull moose draw tag, its about $175 for residents, but its once in a lifetime basically. If you dont get drawn you get all but $7 or so back later in the year. Ive applied 2 times now and havent got a tag;)

did this piece of deer ham on the cooker the other week. came out good. I injected it with bacon grease to keep it moist. 7EF5C1AA-792E-499A-BEBF-88456731871D.jpg
