I'd only suggest dropping the tank if your truck is lifted just because you have more clearance. That said I'm more full on just moving the bed camp.

Just unbolt the bed, unhook the tail light plugs to the bed, and jack up the front end of the truck bed (as high as you need to work on the pump). Then slide a long piece of wood between the now lifted bed, and the truck frame so that it keeps the bed from falling back down - be sure to shake the bed to be sure its stable. Do your fuel pump business (and likely require unhooking a fuel line), then lower the bed back down, and tadah you're done (don't even have to slide the bed around trying to line it up just right with the bolts, or deal with other people touching your truck).

If you pull the bed, just be careful with the bolts at the back and don't grind them out. They're kind of expensive.

Other than that, pulling the bed is really easy.

Yep. The nut on the top side has a tab welded to it as well, so you don't need to get a wrench up there.

If lifting the front of the bed, do the rear bolts need to be removed or just loosened?

You'll have to remove all the bolts connecting the bed to the frame for sure.

I actually made a write up of how I did it here:https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fuel-pump.613832/#post-20825398

Though the way I did it back then and wrote about was much more dangerous, since I'm using just loose bricks and wood to hold up the truck bed. The far safer process wouod be to use as many long peices of wood like 2x4s going across both sides of the frame to stably hold up the bed from falling. Always shake the bed a bit before going under to work on the pump to check for stability, and make sure not to bump the material you're using to keep the bed up.

Also if you are a bit thickly built its a lot more difficult to do just due to working room. I've done it a few times now tho and find it my favorite personally. Haha but its also the most risky.
