2G and probably 3G grease fitting for front drive u'joints.

Greasing U-J's is easy...the front drive shaft U-J's not so...I "customized" a fitting that works "so-so"...But damn, is there a special fitting for the gun or a geometric position for "no loss and fully charged"?

 

I use a flex hose on my grease gun. (Actually bought the gun with this type hose)
Like this : Then reach up and turn the drive shaft (front) to the best spot to slip the fitting on the zerk.

Once you figure it out. It’s not too bad.

 

They’re 90 degree fittings...Some don’t realize and try to go straight on with the gun.

 

On my 06 it works best if I point the transfer case fitting at 1 o'clock then come down from above with the flexible hose.

Just pull that little plate out from under the rear joint on the front shaft. It is only two bolts and removing it gives you free access to the grease fitting on the rear joint without needing any special adapters.

Yep, I do that too..it's the UJ at the front diff..Maybe a pistol grip grease gun would work better?..I use a full cartridge gun. Gotta use both hands to grease..Maybe a small cartridge gun in one hand and the other to keep the grease gun on the fitting? Damn tight quarter's up front.

I use a pistol grip grease gun with a lock'n lube tip. I think I put the Front D-shaft at 3'o clock to get the tip on there and pump away.

 

I have never had a problem with that one. The front shaft spins freely, so it is easy to turn the shaft and hit it. I'm not using anything fancy, just a full size pistol grip grease gun I got about 30 years ago.

 

Pistol grip..that's what I was thinking..I'll take pic's tomorrow of my "customized" tip on the fitting using a full cartridge gun. Thanks ALL!
