On my way to work, coming through an intersection and I go to give it gas. No go. Look at my dash and all the warning lights are on and RPM's are at 0. Coast into a nearby parking lot of a mechanic shop to restart. Cranks but doesn't start. Truck was running just fine prior. Pull the code with an advanced reader on it P0022. Ive seen this code before but it has gone away all on its own. Guy also said something about the crank position sensor and it will make a vehicle stall and not want to start. Also that they can go bad or sometimes debris can get on the sensor (which he says is really just a magnet) and make it read incorrectly.

How easy is it to get to the sensor and replace it (4.0L 6 Cyl). Do I have to take anything off before I can get in there. Draining oil? Also how long does it take to change it out? What kind of tools?

If the gas gauge shows 1/4 tank or less, add some gas. Many people have had their Taco run out of gas when it still shows 1/4 tank.

Edit: FWIW, P0022 is not the crankshaft position sensor.

Possibly if it’s pointing to the drivers side. Lol

Ive read somewhere on this forum dirty oil can cause P0022 code. I change my oil and filter every 5-6k miles. What else can I do for the p0022. He also got another alert/code about the crankshaft sensor.

It could. It if it were dirty oil. It’s likely clogged the oil control valve filter.
But, before you going pulling the oil control valve and filter out.
Let some one else, more knowledgeable than me, give you ideas and advice.
There could be other things that cause this as well.

Nevermind. Put 3 gallons of gas in it and it started right up. Put in another 18.5 gallons in it. I womt trust the fuel gauge anymore.
