Just because it says it can does not mean you should do it.

Real world info is more helpful sometimes.

    Thanks for your great help

Your truck is rated to tow no more than 6500 lbs, but in all actually, it gets a little hairy after 5000. Its doable with a small load over dry weight and get a stabilizer hitch, but not recommended all of the time.

Depending on your mods toyota will warrant it if anything happens. My 2 cents. Is ask your self a few questions. Is it under manufacturing load? Once filled and plus people and supplies in it. Where will you be towing it? Flat planes or super hilly mountains? Trans temp Guage?

We live in NC and I’d drug our Scamp (3,500 lbs) up and down the east coast, through the Smokies and out to the southwest (AZ & UT) multiple times with first an 05 and now a 12 (both 4WD, DC, TRD OR’s) with no problems. This past Spring, we made it to the Tetons and Yellowstone. I’m pretty sure at least two kids on bikes pedaled passed me when I was trying to get up Teton Pass. I found a different route back east. You may be good in TX but, if you’ll be towing anywhere with serious elevation gain, the Tacoma won’t cut it.

You guys have one of the best State Parks systems in the Country and Big Bend NP is a favorite of ours - thanks for the hospitality.

I would love to say I have a plan on how to use it but that would be a total lie because I do not know if I would care to spend much time in a 19ft box. I do not know if I would like to pull a trailer 2000 miles. That is why I was looking for a used local one so I could give it a shot without a huge investment. Ya I could rent one but then loading and unloading all the stuff would kill a day or 2 of the trip.

Anyone is welcome in Texas as long as you don't stay :) lol. or if you do stay leave your liberal laws in the state you come from. ya ya ya sometimes stuff sounds bad when you read it over it being said.

Thanks for insight I think I will keep looking for something with less weight.
