    Hey Guys,
I’m new to TW and Tacoma’s, but picked up a 2019 double cab short bed OR a couple months back.

I have some experience off-roading, Forrest service roads and two tracks mostly, in an old VW Baja Bug.

From NW Ohio and looking to do a forth of July weekend Thursday-Sunday trip to the UP. Open to any parts of it.
Mainly interested in hiking or mild off-roading (stock OR, would rather not crush a rocker).

Specific trails for hiking or driving I should check out? Favorite camp spots? Anyone interested in joining for part or all?

This might help get you started for trails and camping. https://www.amazon.com/DeLorme®-Mic...ocphy=9010294&hvtargid=pla-570515729401&psc=1

I’m from Northeast WI. And depending on the weekend could possibly join in for a couple days if you don’t mind hanging with a older guy.
I will say that we have been getting hammered with rain and swamps are full and I’m sure quite a few “trails” are flooded and impassable currently. Even many of our ATV are closed till things dry up. So a mid-summer trip would be my recommendation. Skeeters will be thick also once it warms up. Have a couple thermacells.

Thanks for the book recommendation, I’ll check it out.

I updated the post a little - I’m looking at the long weekend during the 4th of July. Hopefully the weather drys up by then haha.

I’ve heard bugs can get pretty bad mid summer.. guessing all the rain isn’t going to help that. But, that’s what being outdoors is about, right?

You are probably close to the Porcupine Mountains I have read about. Have you been there?

I’ve been there but haven’t need wheeling there.

Mosquitos are bad right now up here. With the swamps really soaked. They are hatching. Bring your bug spray.

yes i drove through the Porcupine Mountains area on my way back on 9-17
that was a long drive through the forest on a seasonal road with very minimum maintance, might be cool to drive it in the dead of winter :notsure: (if its open)
they wanted $9 to just drive up the scenic view state park, but the lake was so foggy all morning I had to pass and be on my way
almost ran out of gas near Ontonagon
that mountain road right in Copper Harbor might be a nice climb on a snowy day with many feet of snow flying everywhere lol

not my pic but i was up there, heavy blanket of fog that day

Head up to the Keweenaw Peninsula/ Copper Harbor. Lots of trails and dispersed camping.

Where are you looking for go in the UP? I am from that area and love it there. Porcupine Mountains area is by far my favorite. Lots of waterfalls you can see in a day.

Does anyone have any "must see" recommendations around Hiawatha forest or Munising? Heading up there next month with my wife and dog. Looking for any scenic trails and fishing spots. Thanks in advance, it'll be our first time.

Looking to do this in a couple of weeks in Copper Harbor. What should I know about it? I just got a roof top tent for my Tacoma.

There's plenty of ways to see them without taking a tour, but the cruise is the best way to see most of them in a short amount of time. But there's also kayak tours too.
