    Hey guys,

I had a low pressure A/C line replaced at the beginning of this year due to a slow leak causing loss of refrigerant. Now my truck is making a loud, rhythmic clicking noise when I turn on the A/C. Here’s a video for audio reference.

From my searching it seems like I have a bad compressor or related pulley. Can y’all confirm or narrow me in?

A couple of other symptoms I’ve also noticed...

    1. A loss in low end power. I have to rev it to 2500 RPM to get it to move...almost like it bogs down under 2000 and then starts to build power till 2500 when it kicks in.

    2. The A/C is barely cool at idle (sitting at a light, parked with the engine , etc.) but it’s ice cold when I’m moving. Could this be related to a bad pulley or A/C compressor?

Could be a bad fan clutch.

My fan is spinning whether the A/C is on or not...is that normal? How can I test the fan clutch?

The engine cooling fan should be turning all the time... A/C or Not.

Maybe a defective A/C Clutch. Where is the noise coming from.

Haven’t looked at a component diagram or gotten in with a screwdriver or stethoscope to try and pinpoint it.

if the cooling fan was going I think the truck would be running hot at 200+ Fahrenheit I was checking my coolant temp today with an OBD meter it will show coolant temp mines highest was 194 degrees, it sure sounds like a pulley issue my AC doesn't sound anything like that

Could a bad compressor cause the loss of low end power?
