Are you looking for opinions on trifolds?

OEM has the best fit and finish. I've installed many.

Best aftermarket is the bakflip mx4.

I’ve had good luck with the Bakflip G2. Aftermarket tri folds also don’t require messing with the rail system to install, which I believe is required for the OEM cover.

I v had the backflip fibermax for over 3 years no issues. Color fades a bit, leaks a bit on the sides that’s due to the bed rails not being flat. I believe any cover will have this same issue but my stuff never got wet.

Your right about the oem, does fit almost perfect with only the 2 very small holes at the front. They can be easily sealed with silicone, cover itself just seems kind of cheap made.

OEM means you have to cut the top rail covers...that's bullshit.

4 panel tonneau is better than 3 panel. Easy access to front or rear of bed. Watch the installation video on a Tacoma

I have the Gator Evo (now it’s called Gator EFX) and have nothing but positive things to say about it. Very easy to install, it’s aluminum so it’s light weight, easy to remove when needed, and keeps a nice tight seal. Also I prefer the clean/low profile look it provides over the bed.

I am returning this one to Amazon as I could not get it to fit/seal well.

The seals on the bottom of this cover are rock hard rubber which I believe is the biggest to blame. Also 1 of my hinges did not open all the way and raises the middle panel up just a bit. And with the front bulkhead of the bed sitting higher than the bed sides, this also added to a large gap near the front of the cover as it ramped up in the front.

Then there are the latches. There are a lot of moving pieces and they are quite flimsy. The rear let loose on me and when I got home they were just dangling-not attached to anything. Lucky I did not lose the entire thing on the highway at 70mph.

I had an ExTang v1 on my Ram and loved it. The seals were softer and molded to the top of the bed and front rail nicely. The latches were much more sturdy and durable and spring loaded so they always kept down pressure on the cover. However the cost now is significantly higher than what I paid a mere 5 years ago and they are all plastic rather than aluminum.

I ordered the Agri-Cover LoMax from Truck Alterations and it should be here this week. Good luck with the Tyger. Maybe you will have better luck than I did.

I like the truxedo lo pro lq, it's a roll up cover. Built to last the life of your truck, and can be removed in less than a minute.

OOH nice. Excited to see your thoughts on this. I was about to pull the trigger on the soft fold, but if this is legit I am in

Bad batch maybe?? I hope it was just a flimsy one, I'd like to buy a decent hard trifold for less than $800

Did this use the factory rails or did you have to relocate?

You’ll have to post a review when you get this in. It seems like a heck of a deal if it works well.

Yes. The handle itself was made of thicker, tougher plastic with grippy ribbing (yeah yeah sounds weird).

    Here's the older style:

    ImageResize.jpg

The new handles are made of thin, more flexible tubing. It feels flimsy IMO:

My BakFlip MX4 was less expensive than Toyota OEM. BakFlip folds up to a vertical position giving access to all but 3'' of the open bed in this position. The Toyota OEM must be completely removed to gain full access to the open bed...and them what do you do with it and where do you put it?

I went with a Bakflip MX4 due to its flush with top of bed look and the fact its a true tri-fold (some only fold twice) so you can use the whole bed ... after i decided that's what I wanted I also happen to come across it on Craigslist.
