I have a 2002 tacoma with around 210,000 miles on it. Im looking for any ideas on how to add power and acceleration to my truck. Planning on buying a new engine for it soon also. Any ideas would be great. Thanks!!

I believe the most recent guy to add a supercharger to his 2.7 was @BartMaster1234 He might be willing to tell you how much impact that upgrade had on his truck's performance.

    Performance?

I think it’s slower with the supercharger than it was naturally aspirated. The ECU is dumb and doesn’t know what to do with all this extra air it’s reading, so it retards the timing. I won’t get real performance until I tune it with a piggyback computer and finish my methanol injection.

An I4 supercharger without any supporting mods is a hinderance to the engine that eats up fuel and even makes you go slower in my experience.

For example, it struggles a lot with any uphill driving. The truck also seems to run poorly in afternoon times when temps start rising (could just be me).

Are you burning oil or have severe mechanical issues with the motor? These motors are extremely durable so I don't know why you would want to change the motor. You can do a used oil analysis to see what the engines internal health is like.

What Bartmaster says is probably right for extreme performance mods.
But the old saying is 'just make her breath better', which translates into air intake mod and exhaust headers.

I am not burning any oil or having severe mechanical issues with the motor. When i bought the truck about a year ago, the truck needed a good tune up, so I had a mechanic do some work on it ( fuel filter, cat. converters, spark plugs, O2 sensors, fluids, etc) The engine however is still a good engine. It does have a squeaky noise whenever the truck is running, and I would like to at least replace it before leaving from NM to ND for schooling to ensure the truck lasts.
