Hi- I just joined the forum because I am considering buying a nice looking 1997 4x4 with 2.7 liter 4 cylinder. I haven't looked yet but the Tacoma has only a few dings, no rust anywhere and nice clean cloth interior and as I said 4x4. They're asking $5800. I think it might be better than a lateral move from my 2007 2wd Frontier which has more miles, a fair amount of rust underneath, a body in fair. The interior of the Frontier is cloth and also in good shape, but I do like the 4 door nature of the frontiers. Bluebook puts the nissan at about 6500 and the tacoma about 5500

I'm wondering what others think of how the two trucks compare? Will a 22 year old truck have issues due to aging parts. What could I expect in terms of replacing hoses, belts and anything else that might have deteriorated?
    Thanks
    Andrew

Certainly any 22 year old truck will potentially have issues. It all depends what was done in the last 22 years.... was it maintained at the dealer every 3,000 miles with no expense spared, or was the oil changed whenever the oil pressure light came on, and strange noises were ignored until they HAD to be addressed?

Are any service records available? Is it dealer or private sale?
