Is there supposed to be a hose attached to the underside of the oil filter housing to drain the oil under the truck?
Always make a huge mess on oil changes because of the filter being where it is

No hose. Just a rubber cap/plug on the end of the fitting. I just cut the top off a water bottle. It will rest on the belt/pulley below oil filter housing. Just drain into it. Usually only a few ounces

I just stick a plastic water bottle under the tube and after I change my filter I spray some solvent into the valley and let that drip into the bottle and throw it all away.

I'll usually pull off the nub and attach a piece of hose to that and then run it down to a water bottle under the truck before I take off the filter. Makes cleanup easy and hardly any mess. The hose I use is 3/8"ID and it fits snugly enough to stay on but loose enough to fit over it easily and not blindly struggle with it.

    Same crap everyone else got
I use a small plastic up with a whole punched at the top on opposite sides of each other with a mini bungee cord hooked to the holes. Then i just hang it around the housing and the oil dripps into the cup. (picture a mini water bucket design)

Exactly what I did also. Depending on how old your pic is, I might have copied it from you haha. This is what I was describing in my earlier post. Thanks for the pic. Highly suggest this option.

i run a hose to it and have water running and spraying on it while i remove the oil filter, you can really clean out all the old oil from the motor if you take your time re-installing the new filter while the water is running and its soooo diluted you dont have to worry about disposal, just let it run down the street.

Forgive me if I am misunderstanding your technique, but are you getting water into the oil filter housing / engine ?
If so, that is a genuinely bad idea.

I have a hose probably 3/8 heater hose on the nipple that goes down next to the skid plate hole, I pull it through the hole before oil change and shove the inch or so up on top of said skid plate when I'm done, done on both my 2nd gens, over 70k miles at least no problems.

I find that a 5/16" ID hose fits more snugly to the drain pipe below the oil filter housing. Some people put a hose clamp on the hose where it attaches to the drain pipe and run it down below - zip-tying it where necessary to provide a smooth route and out of harms way. Now all you have to do is slide a catch pan below before removing the oil filter.

This is a great way to clean the sand out after you pour it into your throttle body to port and polish the intake.
