Alternator spare parts?

I picked up a H.O. Alt from Mean Green about 6 months ago in preparation for a bunch of stuff I’m going to be installing on my rig.( light bar, winch, Dometic fridge, cb, etc etc) I just recently moved and realized during the move I must have banged up the alt somehow. The plug inlet for my harness is cracked and I’d like to replace it. I could always take my old one off and swap it but I’d like to replace it with a new one. I looked on the internets but I couldn’t find anything in the way of alternator parts. If anyone could shoot me a link to where I could pick one up I would greatly appreciate it!

 

Well, no handy link, but why not just contact the vendor?

 

I already sent him a message and waiting to hear back. I’m hoping I can just find a parts list for the actual alternator and just order the part myself. I’ve seen an exploded view of the alternator but no part #’s. I’m sure it’s somewhat of a common thing being that it’s plastic and could easily break. It’s probably something any local alternator shop can fix for $50.00... a part that cost him $3-$4.

 

You can definitely get parts for the stock unit- brush assembly, regulator, bearings. Not sure on the plug though...

Maybe need the whole regulator assembly? By been a while since I was inside one to remember exactly what is hooked to what.

 

The plastic where the wire plug connects is part of the regulator. It looks like it will still work with just part of it broken. As long as the connector snaps in. You might need to remove the metal alternator back and try to reshape it back to original shape. the connector needs to slide in past the metal.

 

If your wanting to replace that it is going to get expensive.

Just a guess 1/2 the cost of new alternator going by the stock parts.

Just how did it get broken ??

Dropped and landed on the plug?

 

I venture to believe. I think during the move I dropped it somehow. I vaguely remember dropping it. If it’s going to run me anything more than $50 I’ll just salvage the parts off my stock alternator. Hopefully the guy from Mean Green will
Call me back tomorrow and tell me some good news, like if I handle shipping he’ll do it on the cheap.
