This frame is buckled and from what I can see should be replaced. Only way that frame should be straightened is with a "cold repair". Toyota does not sell sections of frame rail for the Tacoma. So a full frame replacement, or totaling the truck is the proper route.

5 people will still say it can be pulled and straightened, and one guy will tell everyone they know nothing about body work that it’s just a bumper and under 2k in damage

I think this is a good conversation thread. Times have changed and no longer can you buff and paint a 35 MPH collision. I can't imagine what a new Wrangler frame repair would be like... It that aluminum stuff that snaps on failure.

Update: They are replacing the frame. 6-8 weeks on the frame itself. Toyota doesnt ship out individual frames. They wait until an area needs a few of them to ship them out.
Another 2-3 weeks after frame arrives for them to R&R.
Adjustor told State Farm that im going to go after diminished value and they still said to replace it.

Tied several boat anchors to my truck to destroy MPG.

I guess that speaks to the overall hold on value of these trucks!

I guess I'm the odd man out, because I loved my old Frontier. It was a lot peppier in the low gears (street driving) and it never broke down in the 7 years I had it. If I had bought the 4WD Frontier instead of the 2WD, I probably never would have had a reason to trade it in for my Tacoma.

Cold repair is normal. My understanding is that they chain it up to a torture rack and pull it back into spec. That's what they did with mine (I didn't have a kink or buckle, just slight upward deformation on one side -- I was rear-ended straight on by another truck, so our bumpers were level with each other).

edit: I'm not an expert on nuthin -- just sharing what I experienced. THe main thing I fought them over was only using new OEM parts. No salvaged or aftermarket crap. I think they just agreed with me because at the time, the third gens were so new that they could only get new/OEM parts. But it felt like a win for me.

I don't think you are wrong. My brother in law has one and it has been a great truck for him. Bought used and has been every bit as dependable. My sister had one too that had issues but it also got put through a wringer that I don't think any truck would have came out smelling like roses with....
