How does fish and wildlife deal with that kinda stuff in the states, I know up here its pretty brutal, huge fine stripped of your firearms license and all your guns get taken away.

Pretty distinctive truck as long as he leaves the accessories on it, otherwise just another turd gen

No other information I can find. The Trooper link I added says there is another vehicle involved. Does say "taken" and not "shot" so maybe it means they did load it up.

Depends. They'll hit him with a significant fine(s), hunting license revoked for probably 2 years, and they have the option of seizing any equipment used to commit the crime (rifle, truck, dirt bike, etc).

    Pure speculation on my part....

But I think Archery season just ended in Oregon. So my guess is that an archer skewered and Elk and was tracking it. The finally got to it just after someone in one of these 3 trucks loaded it up and started driving off. Archer grabs his phone and snaps a picture as quick as he can, but being on foot, can't continue the pursuit. That would seem to fit the description of "illegally taken"....

Otherwise, it could be they received a description of the vehicles and checked same game cameras in the area. Oregon wildlife agents might place game cameras near roads to record traffic in and out for just such occurrences....

I lived on the far north coast of California for a while and was in Rotary. One of the best annual presentations came from the Fish and Wildlife and videos of sting operations they set up. They had a big buck whose head moved around. They would set it up in a field next a country road. Then video tape from a blind. The hillbilly antics were hilarious!

Eeeeh, spend any time archery hunting and you'll run across lots of dudes out shooting. Could be they were out fucking around, shooting, saw an elk and shot it

I can hope, but there are a surprising number of asshole poachers out there.

About five years ago someone took out a buck at the local petting zoo because it had a trophy quality rack. They found the carcass one morning, minus the head.
