Any of you all have any recommendations for some good camping spots? I want to take the family camping one weekend in Oct as my boys (2 & 3) are prime to start.

Looking for a spot within 4-5 (max) hours from Jacksonville, FL for a quick weekend getaway.

Would love to have something scenic like at least some hills or something pretty to look at as I can do flat ground woods camping here in FL lol. Trails would be nice or something to do outside during the day.

I have only ever camped in FL and the same spots near springs here growing up and I want to have a different experience without having to drive too far if possible.

    Thanks in advance everyone!

North Georgia would put you at the edge of 4 hours. Maybe somewhere around Helen, but pretty much anywhere in the Chattahoochee would be nice. Look up Moccasin Creek State Park outside of Clayton, GA. I have not been there yet, but it's definitely on my short list.

North Georgia is also chock full of trails and forest service roads. And you could get ambitious and do parts of the Georgia Traverse while there.

Hit me up if you end up looking at sections of the Traverse - I just did from the eastern start to Cohutta this past weekend and can provide helpful insights depending where you're looking!

Well, I looked it up, and North Georgia is more like 6-7 hours. :(

I hear ya but I'm just tired of dealing with automatics and I love driving my manual mighty max and grew up doing it. Just a personal preference. But hey I could end up not liking it but it seems everyone either love them to death or absolutely hate em.

Yeah I was looking at Helen and saw it was pretty far. Only going after work on a Friday and hoping to arrive somewhere before dark, spend sat and part of sunday and head back doesn't leave much time to trail ride too much....too much time in the car as it is driving lol
