Shooting an M1 Garand 1000yds with iron sights was actually part of the qualifications to purchase from the DCM years ago.

The bulls eye was about the size of a dinner plate and you had a buddy next to you with a spotting scope doping the wind and calling your sight corrections. Lots of fun!

If anything ever did happen, I’d just grab my shit and leave. No house is actually defendable unless it’s like two vs two. SHTF it’s going groups and I’m leaving. Let them all just kill each other.

No clue really. Wanting to get a bolt action to work on my long range shooting. Realistically would only be shooting 500 yards but would also be fun to stretch its legs and go for longer distances. Would also possibly be used for hunting in the future for Elk and deer. Never hunted before so don’t really know what distances are typical. Won’t be trying to snipe a deer at 1000 yards though.

I hunt elk with a 7mm and it's always done well for me. Pretty rough on the shoulder at the range though.

500 range either would be a good buy. 700+ is where things change. If you plan to buy ammo locally, you will have more options with .308 BUT you can still find 6.5 without big issues.

I have this one in multicam for my Tikka. No free mags but double rifle pouches and is pretty heavy duty.

Then one of these for each AR. Not super huge but I have a range bag already and these hold the rifles and megs just fine.

Depends what state. Hunting in western states for deer, 25 yards to 250 yards can be TYPICAL. But there’s honey holes out there where 500+ to where a deer is.
Wouldn’t worry about that stuff to much. Hunt habitat and bring a good set of binos and they will be where they be. You can always get closer. If you are not a strong long range shooter ie if you can’t make cold bore shot and hit a 6 inch target at the range you are in any condition, at anytime....get closer.

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
The ability to find rounds of a certain caliber are what holds me back from purchasing anything in 300 blkout. I really would like to try the round out as I have heard some impressive things about it but availability always reigns me back to 5.56.

Also for those looking for a bugout option for multiple calibers I have a hard time suggesting anything besides a good breakover shotgun and the X-Caliber system. I can not suggest their folding shotgun that can be bought with their system as I have seen severe component failure but can not speak highly enough of their adaptors.

For me, in a scavenger type situation; the ability to fire almost any caliber that you come across cannot be more important than any other part of your bugout resources.

    Check them out...

I got this one for my tikka on a huge sale day. Pretty TactiCool but the build quality is nice and couldn't beat $55 shipped

I got to spend about 45 minutes at the range today after leaving work, put about 130 rounds through the .40 and 150 through the 9mm with the new HS 507C on the slide.
Pretty happy overall, first target was 2 shots from 1 yard back to 25 yards, shoot, take a few steps back, shoot again, repeat.
The rest of the .40 i shot was mostly off hand supported and off hand unsupported.
I also found out that 2 to the chest and 1 to the head is pretty easy to do quickly out to about 7 yards.

I have an extra lower that I can't decide what to do with. No matter which way I go it will be piston driven but I'm between a ~10" SBR in 5.56 or a 16" .300BLK.

I already have .300BLK guns in 7.5" and 10.5" so I'm not looking to do another shorty in the caliber. And then I have 5.56 rifles in 16", 18" and 20" so I'm looking for something kind of in between.

At this point I obviously don't really need another AR but want to do something piston since these are all DI guns.

    Thoughts?

Short 556, I see no use of a carbine length .300 BLK unless you’re using it for hunting in different states.

Piston ARs are Rube goldberg. No need to make something complicated out of something simple. Suppressing a piston gun is a worthless endeavor due to pop from the gas bleedoff.

6.8, 277 wolverine, grendel, 25-45 sharps are some other good AR caliblers. PCC are fun as well.

The giggle factor of an SBR 22 LR is undeniable

Yeah. I did a form 1 integrally suppressed 22 AR SBR. CMMG barrel and bolt. Ridiculous fun.

I have plans to add a pistol brace to a 10/22 Charger. A buddy has one and it's more fun than should be legal. Especially with a can on it.

I have thought about doing a Grendel. It sounds like a great caliber for the AR but I don't really want to dive into another borderline boutique caliber that I have to buy brass for. At least with .300BLK I can just chop down 5.56 brass to make more.

You can easily make .277 WLV brass from 556 as well.
