You don't buy a truck for its fucking fenders!
    2.5" lift w/35's
They have the square ones that fit into the blank switch locations also. You'd just have to tap into the cigarette lighter wires for power

I had an issue with one of those modules that plug directly into the cigarette lighter socket.

I had just bought a used truck in mint condition for its age. Around the same time, I bought the module and away I went.

With the factory head unit, I was unable to pick up my favorite FM station in most parts of town. Eventually I replaced the head unit and had the same terrible results.

I put that up to a problem with the antenna somewhere. It wasn’t until I took a road trip with a friend and his radio reception instantly went to hell.

I unplugged the charger and everything returned to operating order. Returning home, the same happened with my radio.

The module was dying and generating a lot of noise on its way out. A replacement fixed everything.

I hope this comes in handy one day.

Do you have the link to that USB charger? And if it take any modification to get it in the switch cutout?

It’s not made specifically for the 3rd gen but it fit tight in the space without modification. I’ve been running it over year now without issue. It’s not loose and hasn’t fallen out just held in by tension.
    I’m happy with it.

did you just tap into a fuse? I’m thinking of taping the dome light fuse so it stays on full time.

Yeah I tapped the wiper circuit with an add a fuse that way it comes on only when the ignition is on. If you want it on all the time you can do that. I would just stay away from tapping any engine management circuits.

I just traded in my 2017 Tacoma TRD for the 2020 model (5 days ago) but I never had any issues with the USB port or the wireless charger. I did notice some quirks to it though, such as if you have a thick case/skin around your phone, the signal may not make it through. I have a thin aluminum shell on mine and no issues wireless charging but I DO have to put the phone (Note 8) on the charger with the bottom of the phone closest to the charge indicator light. If I turn it around it won't charge. Barring this though, it charges quickly on wireless.

I always had a 64gb micro thumb drive in the USB port for the stereo so I had an adapter similar to the ones shown above for charging other peoples phones. Can't say I ever ran into charge issues though. Some models have two charge ports in the front wall of the center console. I didn't even notice them there for months after I bought the truck.

After you plugged the cig lighter harness, did you have to do anything else??

I've got the radio bezel surrround and A/C cluster removed for another mod. Made an attempt to remove the cigarette port by reaching behind it and twisting/turning/pushing. No luck. What is the technique for removing the OEM cig port?

There are little tabs inside the cig lighter that need to be pushed. I used a tooth scrapper (improvised) and some muscle to get it out. It wasn’t as easy I thought. Also, had to file the hole larger for the new usb to fit. Just did a little at a time and checked it till it fit

I used a pick and caved in the silver liner and pulled it.

I used an extension cord, added a fuse and ground. Threw it behind the head unit and run the cable right up to the mount.

 Thank you. A right angle pick worked for me. There are two tabs, top and bottom. Pick (twice) and simultaneously push from the back side.

Also worth noting that the silver female tube is latched independently from the black bezel/cap. The tube is latched to the bezel and the bezel is latched to the truck. Pull the silver tube out first, then release the latched bezel.

The OEM hole is just shy of 1 1/8", so VERY light Dremeling opens it up for the new 1.125" socket.

Mechanically challenged, so this was quite a project for me. :)

Has anyone located one of these to the back of the arm rest facing the rear seat?

Yes, they move the center console one and drilled a hole to face the rear seat location.
