Hey people I am looking for some new leafs. Looking to replace my old Dakars with something different this time. Currently sitting at 2.75" lift in rear so I would like to keep it the same height.
I usually have a tool box with maybe 200lbs of gear in it and a RTT in the summer.
I want something that will be quiet.
    Suggestions?

Good experience with Icon RXT so far.

Use Speedway Ford Model-T leaf liners and most leaf packs will be quiet. It's tedious to install though, since you'll have to open the leaf pack and insert a section of the liner between each individual leaf. Need to drill a hole in each piece for the center pin, too.

One thing I’ll give Toyota, is the stock leaf springs are silent. Not sure why OME struggles so much.

It’s open to a lot of debate what leafs are best.

    Hey Joe,

Since I run the medium Dakar now, would the equivalent in Deaver be the stage 2?

I don’t want it to ride jarring and have plenty of flex, but I don’t always have weight in the bed except on trips where I can hit 400+ #’s of gear.

What is typically a better pack: Deaver or Icon RXT?

The stock leafs in my old 2nd gen squeaked after a year. No magic here - dirt gets in between leafs. Presumably having more leafs in the pack increases the likelihood of squeaking. Stock has 4. OME has what, 9? 11? The single-leaf used in older Caravans and Chevy Impalas were quiet

My short experience with the Speedway liners has been positive so far - no squeaks after two muddy wheeling trips.

Deaver U539/U540 with some extended hangers and shackles would be your best option. Rides like you're on a cloud with the right shock setup.

OP, I replaced my old, worn HD Dakars with Deaver Stage III U402's. VERY happy with the result. I have a topper and steel HC rear bumper with swingout all the time; roughly 500-550 lbs. I added my RTT for some testing at the new house and that was roughly 600-650 with an unloaded bed; no camping gear etc. The Dakars were worn out and simply not going to cut it.

Granted the measurements were taken immediately after the install, but I only gained about 1/4" over the HD Dakars. I fully expect them to settle around 3".

I am VERY pleased with the results and I highly recommend them.

Those are HD leafs. Are you saying it rides like a cloud with a bunch of weight in bed?

My tailgate is the weight in this case but yeah extra weight doesn't hurt. They are SUA and much flexier than stock or any SOA pack so the HD rating doesn't mean these are super stiff the way you're thinking they would be.
