Yesterday I was successful in navigating through all the hoops to get my California Distinguished Veteran park pass, as well as the America The Beautiful Federal Parks Access Pass for disabled Veterans.

In order to qualify for the Federal Parks Access pass the Veteran needs any permanent disability rating from the VA. So 10% (maybe 0% rating IDK) and above qualifies you for the inter agency Access Pass. Free entry to over 2000 federal sites like Yosemite and some other discounts on camp sites/cabins/tours etc. You can get this pass in a ton of places throughout the state. I went to the state BLM office in Sacramento.

The California Distinguished Veterans pass can only be obtained in person at the Sacramento office but can be done by mail if you wish to mail all the necessary documents. The criteria to qualify for the pass is a combined total service connected disability at 50% or above. Tons of free camp sites and free entry to SVRA parks and camp grounds/ day use gate fees.

I have been meaning to do this for years. It would have saved me a ton of money. I always hear people talk about the passes but nobody ever knows exactly how to get them. Well I got them yesterday. so I figured if any other Veterans were interested in the pass, I would share the information. I think there are also similar passes for active duty and non Veterans who are disabled. If you have any questions on these passes, I can at least shed some light on the programs and point you in the right direction. Just ask.

    Yep!

Had the national one for awhile and recently got the CA one.

For the CA one, you not only provide your service connected letter of 50% or higher, but 3 consecutive billing statements proving your residency here, state ID/DL, and DD214.
