Even after all the negative I've read here, I still want one. Am I crazy ?

Even after all the issues I've read on here I think I'm still going to buy a 2020.

I don't need something to haul logs. I don't need something that rides like a luxury car. I don't need something that drives like a sports car. I don't need something that gets the fuel economy of a hybrid.

I need something that if well maintained, I can be reasonably assured that the truck will still be there and quite functional 10 years from now.

    Am I a fool ?

The only problem is that you’ve read the issues here. Buy a 2020, there are no issues if you don’t log in here.

Nah, we all have our issues. The negative isn't the majority and sometimes things are blown out of proportion. I feel that generally we all love our Tacos! Otherwise this place wouldn't exist! Do it!

No. The average complaining Tacoma owner seems to be a whiny bitch about any and all things. Truck shifts sooner than they thought it would? Must be defective. You have to rev the smaller-displacement engine to get any power? Must be defective. Something with the aerodynamic properties of a brick makes wind noise? Defective.

There are a few real problems with the trucks, like the engine oil leak. But those are a minority (and honestly it's to be expected that ANY new vehicle line will have a few duds), and if you DO have problems, any reputable dealer will work with you to resolve it through Toyota corporate.

If you want one, buy one. Odds are you'll be happy with it.

This and People who have no issues have no reason to post while people who have problems want to seek out others to find a possible solution. Also there are those few people who impulse buy the vehicle, spend too much money or don’t put enough money down, and resent the vehicle because they hate making a monthly payment for the next X number of months so they bitch about every little thing.

I mean, if you're crazy then so am I, because I bought for exactly the same reasons. I've had excellent luck with Toyotas in general and Toyota trucks specifically over the years. They're not the fastest things in the world, they're not the most exciting things in the world, but as you say, if you take care of it and it'll outlast most things.

My Tundra was still going strong when I sold it at 17 years old with 140k on the clock, no mechanical issues, only the rust that the original owner had allowed to take root, and I spent a decade losing the battle with. So I guess i'm saying you're making the right decision, but if you live anywhere there's salt on the roads, spray Fluid Film, Krown, or whatever non-rubberized undercoating you prefer under the truck from day one, so your frame lasts as long as the rest of the truck.

I agree with others above in that many people come to forums to report, complaint about and seek resolution for issues. Very few of the vast majority of Tacoma owners out there who are very satisfied with their trucks come to forums to share their positive experiences.
Tacomas always lead the pack in re-sale value for a reason; they are GREAT trucks.

I have a 2016 TRD sport dcab with 33k in it my only complaint is the rear seat room. I have some large friends and I can never take my turn driving. The only other issue is my radio head unit no longer reads my text messages out loud.

Or you can buy a '19 now that they will soon be heavily discounted to make room for the 2020. I bought my '17 when the 18's were coming in, and saved $4k

    I aint no fool!
