I've got a 98 tacoma rebuild title. Went to put washer fluid reservoir on and the pump is 2 prong and the wiring harness is 4 prong. Checked 97-99 and they all show 2 prong. I'm stumped..

I just looked in the wiring diagram for a 2003 and found this info showing 4 prong connector:

The pump is 2 wire, the other two wires are connected to a float that illuminates the low fluid light in the dash...

The connector you have has four positions. Two are for the pump & the other are for the low fluid light.

I just did a 95-2000 washer fluid res swap on my 04. I’m assuming the new washer res does not have a float inside? Mine didn’t.

Coming out of the 4 pin connector was a small 2 pin connector that went to the pump and the other two went to the float. If you’re missing that sub harness you have a few options.
    1) find a Tacoma for parts and ask for the sub harness that connects into the 4 pin connector . This will have the float still attached. You can lock the float in the upper position (as if it was in the res full of fluid) or just cut the wire. The float is basically a switch.
    2) go online and find a empty connector that will mate with your 4 pin connector. Install the two wires that feed the pump
    3) cut the pump wires off the 4 pin connector and buttconnect, Solder, etc...them together.
[edit for clarity. Connect the positive from harness to positive on pump and negative from harness and negative on pump.
    4) hire me to build you a sub harness [Its what I do for a living]

I’d have to see what I can get the factory connectors for but probably more than you’re going to want to pay buddy. Try to see if any of the guys on here that are parting out will sell you it. I’m sure it’s not a popular item and they probably have it.
If no luck lemme know and I’ll get you a number

I just put in a 2001 windshield wiper tank in my 1997.

The 2001 has 4 wires, two for the pump and two for the float for the low level.

My 1997 did not have the float.

I just spliced the two wires together for the pump.

And added the low level float to my windshield pillar pod with an orange light when it’s low form the other two wires.
    Spliced them together too
