Im lucky I didnt have major scars, just some scratches along the way. I did end up with back issues and shoulder issues amongst other things...My wife is also veteran and she has veteran plates. but I figure I have the plate holder that says "US Air Force Retired" and thats enough.

In Colorado the Purple Heart plates are free and they also waive the annual registration fee. Hop on I-70 east and take a look out here.

Just renewed my free Georgia tag. I just love going to the tag office to renew and they say, "Yes Sir, your total today is...nothing"

Yeah but it needs a blasting cap and a wire to the igniter. We used to pull the pin on a frag and set the claymore over the spoon to discourage "nocturnal tampering".

invasion iraq we attached them to the front of our trucks. in case we had to break contact hard

and i didn't add anti-handling to ours, we usually recovered them

Who the hells idea was that?! Sorry but that makes no damn sense to me.

Of course fighting out of a “truck,” doesn’t make sense either.

lol. every one was in trucks. big trucks, little trucks, fuelers, all sorts

when you leave the truck behind because it's disabled, blasting the truck with a potential of blasting bad guys isn't a bad idea

Maybe I misread your meaning. Made it seem like a break contact technique. However there are still better ways. Claymores are more of a directional weapon. Thermite grenade, hand grenade, C4 would’ve all been better. Of course it also depends what you have on hand. Wasn’t there so can’t really say what made sense or not at the time.

As long as it wasn’t a “we are detonating claymores off our hood to break contact,” then I could buy into it. I just pictured spalling hitting the engine bay or occupants.

Not to mention issues with range fans, back blast, blast pressure exposure etc.

While I agree about not wanting to draw attention that you are in the military as I was the same way when I was in I did have a military themed plate on my vehicle. 1 reason I did was that at least in my state it didn't mean that you actually served meaning that anyone publically could get one for the cost. 2 there are some benefits to having them i.e. not having to pay for parking at events, I have been let off of tickets more than I have been given one for having it. I also run DV plates on my vehicle now as a benefit it only cost me like 10 dollars a year to register vs. the normal registration fee. And again other perks go along with that as well like not having to pay parking meters downtown as well as certain venues will grant free parking as well.

Can't wait for NY ST to tell me it is time to file my retirement papers so I can retire and come down and enjoy living in the State of Georgia. I have already started looking for property in the Dawsonville area.

I really like the area and have family in Dawsonville plus I like Lake Lanier so that is going to be my retirement spot plus it is close to anyplace I want to go. I just cant wait to get out of NY it is getting ridiculous up here between taxes and the piece of shit politicians wanting to take our guns away, giving criminals the OK to commit crimes (no bail just go home after you get arrested and the court will call you to remind you to come to court if you forget to show up) and the corruption. DO NOT even think about moving to NY.
