My Taco is starting to rust out like many of its age. The roof and part of the hood.
What recommendations for repainting it or substitute? I would really like to not have to spend over $5k to paint my truck just to have it happen again. The dark blue looks too good on my ‘08 to change colors or textures. Any input would be great!

    OME and worth every penny.
May as well sand and prime it before it gets worse. Going to have to do that anyway no matter what direction you go.

It’s cheaper than buying a new truck. Plus if your paint guy is good and you actually take care of the paint no reason it should last 20 years.

If its just the roof and hood you could always have them wrapped in 3m vinyl Mabey flat black and give it a nice two tone look

That sounds great to me. Sand down the roof to prevent further rusting, prime it, and wrap it as a diy job.. The hood is cheap enough to repaint by a pro

Ask around about lower cost painters. I'm in a very expensive area, but found a guy that would repaint just my hood and roof for $800 cash. He's a reputable body shop, but this quickie is easy money for him.

Buy a cheap spray gun at Napa and the paint to do it yourself. Watch some youtube videos. It's not that difficult and since they are the flat, horizontal panels, it's pretty hard to mess up. If it doesn't turn out the way you want it to, you can wrap it then. At least then it will be sealed and have a good surface for the wrap to stick to.
