I'm at Valvoline now because I have had time to do my 60k service... Do I need to do the fluid change for my 6mt? If so, they charge $200, but I have a 20% off coupon. I don't see myself having time to do it, so unfortunately I need to pay extra for convince.

I realize I should search, but I need to decide quick. Thanks for input

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
do a basic drain and refill, not a full flush.

An MT fluid flush takes 15 minutes tops and can be done in your driveway. I’d personally buy the fluid and drain/fill gaskets myself and save myself $150. They’ll also probably fill it with a GL5 specced gear oil which isn’t best for our MT transmissions. You can do it yourself with a high quality GL4 MT fluid for under $50 easily.

If it’s brown flush it down, if it’s yellow let it mellow

I passed on having them do it. If it takes a couple of weeks, I can't imagine I'll do any harm. I need to do the plugs anyways. Thanks guys

Maybe the world has gotten away from me, but how does one "flush" a manual transmission equipped with thick gear oil?. All I ever did was drain and refill with qty. specified in owners manual.

"Flush" sounds better when they want to squeeze you for $200 and give you a 20% discount to make it feel like you're getting a good deal.

Drain out the old, put in the new. Use GL4. Put some Teflon tape on the drain and fill plugs.

DON'T over tighten the drain plug!

A little of this and a little of that.
This is what I have used in my truck at 30K and I just changed it again at 60K. Drain/fill plug washers P/N is 90430-A0003. Truck shifts very well.

Redline MT-90 and Ford Motorcraft XT M5 QS are the best IMO. Based on shift feel/smoothness, longevity, and price. I’ll usually get whatever is cheaper at the time of service.

Change your plugs while it drains, - and maybe lube the drive train while you're at it.
