Atlanta, Houston, Tucson, Phoenix, Moab, grand junction and back to NC. As little pavement as possible after Phoenix. Anybody want to join in? We will be in Houston on the 2nd and Phoenix on the 5th, but other than that, we’re chillin. Likely sept 7-12 in the Utah/Colorado area.

Sounds great, we did that in 17 and 18 (from Rocky Mount / Tarboro area) and had a blast. If you're not real familiar with the Moab area (we weren't), the "Guide to Moab, UT Backroads and 4WD Trails - 3rd Edition" was an invaluable resource for finding our way around. This year we hit Yellowstone, Grand Teton and a few other more northern Parks but I think we prefer the public lands in northern AZ and southern UT - just something about rocks and desert.

Its a shame you have a tight schedule between Houston and Phoenix. Otherwise, I'd suggest taking 90 out of San Antonio and spending a night or two in Big Bend NP down on the border in one of the backroad campsites. If you're returning on I-40, Palo Duro Canyon State Park outside Amarillo is a nice stop with showers available.

Anyway, be safe, have fun and post back with a trip report and pics.

Hey Guy, Got similar plans around same time. Tentative plans here is to leave Ky and be in or close to Leadville, Co. on 7 or 8th. Usually stay there 4 to 5 days depending on what passes are open. Then moving to Moab for few more days then N Az a few days then back to Ky. Maybe we can do a meet up somewhere in one of the states.. Stay in touch.

    you're dead to me...

Living in NC is no excuse. People in Europe know about Moab. :D

    But seriously,

It's a world-famous area known for epic off-roading and mountain biking. There is something for every skill level, and some of the trails are super sketch looking, but quite "tame" due to the massive traction from the slickrock.

I've been there for mountain biking several times, but never for 4x4, and I hope to change that.
