I have the weekend to meself! Wifey met up with her mom a sis for a girls weekend!! Fucking saweet! This is when having a blended family rocks! No kids this weekend either.

Got the aframe and headgear mounted to the 2500 this morning. Now off to Subaru to get stuff to change the oil in my wife’s car. Gotta get 7 quarts instead of the typical 6 for the outback since it’s consuming oil... there was a class action and Subaru settled. The car has been to the dealer multiple times for a consumption test and it’s always just under their threshold. How convenient for them and Subaru corporate. Kind of crazy to burn a quart in the first 2k after each change...

Guess we will just eat the cost of an extra quart for a while until I convince her to trade for a t4r.

 

Nice Saturday visiting my daughter at University of Rhode Island. Just me and her. Wifey went to 'mothers' for the weekend.

I think we’ve had about 8 consumption tests performed; each time the same. Last time I was in there to drop the car off I heard one of the guys that work there go “here’s the know it all”.

There’s a little solace knowing I annoyed the fk out of them enough for him to say that, but I was pissed off hearing it at the same time. They tried convincing me “it’s normal to consume a quart of oil.” Personally, I’ve never had a car that did it, at least at a noticeable rate. I’m not convinced.

I believe we still have the option for additional consumption tests but it’s a pain in the ass to leave them my wife’s car for a day, when I’m able to change the oil myself in a couple minutes on a weekend, and add oil as needed. Especially when the consumption test result has been the same over and over.

Buuuuut. I expect it's not the same motor, but my 2003 Taco w/ 208k, & my 2003 Tundra w/ 209k on the clocks don't burn oil.
Just don't seem "normal" to me.
Upon reflection, neither did the '76 Corolla, '77 Celica, '83 Supra, '07 Prius...

 

Neither did my wrx, when I had it. I guess Subaru got one thing right.

That thing was fun to drive too.

2013 Taco is currently at 115k and no issues (other than sitting at stock height.) 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 with 104k has its issues due to the age but it ain’t consuming oil.

 

I'd try giving Subaru corporate a call, it could be worth it.
Then you could always have an accident a the dealer.

What do you think, have we met the rust perforation standard yet? One year left on the frame warranty for my 09. Time to gitter fixed!

I was in a couple months back and they told me it wasn’t ready yet. So I got under there with a hammer to make sure they were getting a proper view of the real issues.

 

That seems proper enough.
