Although I will say my ears rang a little bit even as a child. I can't ever remember a time when they didn't ring at least a little. It got worse in my early forties

Star Trek, when the crew is floored by some weird high-pitched whine. Modern war movies are getting good at portraying the real sound when a mortar or artillery round goes off near the hero. My wife knows when they got the freq right when my face implodes.

I'm 27 and I've had 24/7 ringing in my ears for years now. Thankfully, I was told that I still have perfect hearing after having my hearing tested. I don't remember when it started and I don't know how I got it. It's at its worst when I wake up in the morning or when I go to bed at night. When I am out and about or at work I usually forget it is there.

Unfortunately, when I ride my motorcycle I can really tell it is there. The wind noise makes it worse, especially if I put those ear buds in. I've been playing music to help but I guess I just got to get used to it and tune it out.

I would spend every dollar I have on a cure if there was one.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.

Misinformation, there is no treatment but the military does offer coping technology. The fibers of hair that vibrate in the inner ear when hit with sound waves transmit that signal to the brain which is interpreted as sound. The higher frequency hairs are at the entrance to the inner ear and receive the most shock and abuse over the years. They cannot repair themselves and lose their ability remain supple and bounce back continuing to send transmissions to the brain of high pitched ringing. I am getting my hearing aids next month from DoD. They have numerous types now, battery fed and rechargeable, in the ear/over the ear which serve different purposes. However, they have Bluetooth functions that can link to your smartphone and activate a white noise setting to cancel out the tinnitus. They can also play music and adjust the frequencies you need help hearing the most. I have heard nothing but good things about them from my peers using them.

Hey guys, long time no talk. Gotta share something huge that my wife got me.

    https://www.amazon.com/AfterShokz-Wireless-Conduction-Headphones-AS650SG/dp/B075FMK7SD

They are bone conduction head phones. Sound travels through the bone to the auditory nerve, not the ear canal. Sounds great, and nothing goes into the ear. Unlike any other headphones that go into the canal (and make my tinnitus worse) or put out sound at the opening of the ear (and still have to contend with the ringing) these use some kind of witchcraft to put music right into my head. My ear canal is unobstructed so I can also hear ambient sounds.

I started playing with them today, but these are as good as my noise-canceling headphones that cost 4 times as much and I won’t wear to the gym.

I’ve seen that but my Dr said there wasn’t a cure, just treatment?

That's what I've been told as well..
I'm still just trying to find relief somewhere.. It's why I started the thread in hopes maybe just maybe someone would run across something to help (everyone suffering).

I’m told hearing aids help which I still haven’t gone to find out. Just so much on plate right now.

I miss complete silence but doesn’t keep me from anything. Kinda like background sound when camping at night. Mind over matter for the time being but it does get annoying at times.

Mine is service connected from working around jets, including 2 carrier deployments. It has gotten worse as I've gotten older. Fighting with the VA now over a stupid paperwork screwup. My clam was denied despite the VA audiologist stating he believed it was service connected. Appeal rolling through the system. It won't really change anything, as I have enough screwed up that I have full medical coverage from the VA already. Stupid though. Once some GS-nothing clerk screws something up in your file, it practically takes an act of Congress to get it fixed.

I just had a VA C&P hearing test a few weeks ago and I know I failed miserably . The examiner was looking at me inside the booth and I know she was saying to herself " you can't hear this ??? "

I was struggling to hear any of the sounds until it got loud enough to overcome the ringing in my ears . I guess firing Ma Duece .50 machine guns without hearing protection and also being stationed at a Military air station and hearing fighter aircraft 24/7/365 ruined my ability to hear
