The wife and I (and dog) will be heading out to Moab next week to do some camping. I’ve never been out there so had a random question for you guys! I have a few different tents and trying to decide which one to bring to Moab. Usually for longer trips we’ll bring the kodiak canvas flex bow tent. We plan on doing dispersed camping and wonder what the soil/ground is like?

So do you guys think I’d be ok with the kodiak canvas tent? (Requires a lot of stakes to hold it up, so not great in rocky or sandy areas)

Or should we just bring the small dome tent that doesn’t necessarily need the stakes to stay up?

Also open to any suggestions on camp sites/areas and trails that a mostly stock TRDOF (just have sliders and duratracs) can do!!!

    Thanks for the help guys!

I use a small backpacking tent. Stakes are useless, so I put rocks inside the tent.

Not sure if you have left yet, but I was there a couple weeks ago and was able to use my tent stakes. It was my 1st trip out there too i was on motorcycles, so I can't really recommend any trails.
