What’s any easy and clean way to add aux reverse lights for under $50?

Actually lemme clarify:

I have meso’s stage 1 tail light conversion and I’m trying to figure out a way to get my reverse lights back when my hazards are on. So if you know how that can be achieved lmk. Otherwise how should / can I wire up a reverse light that comes on when I shift to reverse?

 

How did that happen? Loose the reverse (own circuit) when hazards (turn signals) are ON?
I didn't know switchbacks have "turn" priority over the reverse (white).

 

Place power tap to reverse OEM wires BEFORE the switchback...then that tap to your added reverse lamp...

 

This is the model he has. Puts the turn signal into the reverse lamp spot.

That's why I mentioned I had no idea that the switchbacks have TURN "over" reverse, as in when hazards are flashing you get no BU (white light).

 

interesting mod that might look deeper into. Obviously an auxiliary back up lamp of some type is something needed with it though.

 

I think MESOJDM should send you the required harness to add the additional reverse lamps since he goofed on testing his product in hazard mode.

 

I understand that’s a known issue with these. Still a good product.

Hazards only if I recall. Signals I believe worked with reverse lights. But now I’m not sure. Ha.

 

Hmm. I’d always assumed the switchbacks were the bulbs, but does switchback reference the harness section that combines the two functions?

 

They are the bulbs, the MESO harness provides the dual input to the bulbs...

 

It is odd now that I actually stop to think about. Why would that happen? It must be the pcm then, right?

I don't think he goofed, it was one of the trade offs of having a switchback bulb put in the reverse spot.

From the horse's (@MESO) mouth, "WHAT IF YOU ARE BACKING UP WITH THE TURN SIGNAL ON?
-Due to the nature of a switchback bulb.. only 1 color will be lit up at once. The amber has priority over the white. This is a small trade off for having a switchback bulb. If you back up a lot while having your turn signal on, this may not be the kit for you."

 

It really isn't a SMALL trade of, not inspection wise and it's not stated on his website...so

His products are most likely intended for Off-road use.

 

Also...who is backing up and using turn signals/4-ways so much that they are upset with this mod? Simply one of the BEST mods! Quick, effective and improves light output for every (oh..almost every) aspect of the taillight over stock.

 

Here this is quite common. It is the best way to get to the highway exit you just missed.
