What makes a 4 link not ideal for daily driven?

I know very little about off road suspension geometry but the little research I've done seems to conclude that 4 link is bad on a daily driven vehicle. None of the forums I've found give any definitive reason on why.

It's not so much about the 4-link as it is the soft springs and sometimes compromised suspension geometry.

For example the rear of 4Runner's are 4-linked and drive very well.
They have 8-10" of suspension travel, and ~200 lb/in springs in the rear.

Many 4-links have 20" of travel, and 70 lb/in spring rates.
The soft rates are required to for the long travel suspension to work correctly, and result in a lot of body roll, and reduce load carying capacity.

Additional issues come from sacrifices made to suspension geometry, which can cause 3-wheeling and other undesirable handling characteristics.
The less ideal suspension geometry is compounded by the soft springs and valving.

Do you have any example of these geometries? I'm not asking as a means to build one, I'm just curious on the topic and want to learn a little about it.

Look at roll axis angle and anti-squat.
