Been awhile, but that sounds about right. On dirt, then hard left, that's when I had to put into 4lo at that time( wasnt regeared yet) to get up it.

I check my book out when I get home.

So, went to Hollister and broke the front drive shaft. What do you guys think about RCV's?

What let go in the front shaft? Ujoint?

Probably better then the ring and pinion... maybe.

My brother had a driveline break then rip around and tear a hole in his tcase (on a Suzuki samurai). He wasn’t stoked.

Surprisingly, shaft broke by the wheel well. I was glad it didn't damage any of the abs sensor or something else.

Here is a picture for you. One of the main reasons I'm hesitant to get RCVs is because it's easier to fix axel on a trail than ring and pinion.

Did you have a spare and install it on the trail at Hollister?

what actually caused it to break? Meaning the scenario/situation preceding the failure.

Looks like @K_Sandhu dropped his gigantic dong on his wheel and it musta transfered the shockwave through to the axle.

Other guess, you were locked up front and hammered down?

I was trying to climb through a rough spot when truck slid of rock and landed in a hole. Front was locked up and wheels turned. That's what broke it.
Edit: it broke when I tried to get out of that spot with wheels turned and diff locked.

Correct, front locker was on and wheels turned.

Almost brother! Only difference is I didn't had to fix it on the trail :D
I must have been thinking about getting new drive shaft as a back up or probably drinking.

You snap yours too because the front was locked? perhaps that picture of you sitting down flipping off the camera with something broken on the trail?

Too lock or too not lock the front is currently a question for me. Trying to figure that out now as I stack my cash for regear/locker(s?). Rather only open them up once.
Been reading alot scary/expensive shit about IFS and front lockers when wheels dont stay straight. Thanks for sharing Karan. My research and internal thought process continues.
