so my buddy has a V6 tacoma. Beat my little 4 banger by about a half a car. I was wondering if fuel injectors would give me that little bit more to whoop his ass. (Not gappy he beat me)

possibly will help a lil bit depending on the condition of your prior injectors. The 2.4 aint much out the box but a low and slow, reliable work horse. Reminds me of my old 1997 ram with a 5.2l. Sounded super throaty and gutsy with my glasspack but in the end it was just a slow, reliable monster. My best recommendation is to do the deck plate mod, if you need more than that, then I'd look to possibly re-gear. From what I've read re-gearing is your one sure-shot bet to get more out of the truck. If I keep my 5 lug as long as I did my ram (8 yrs) I'll prolly turbo it. You can with stock everything at low boost like 6-7 lbs.

I think I’m just going to save a little bit and go the eBay turbo way and not even mess with opening the engine and gearbox

smart choice just shop wisely. as you know the ebay turbos are hit or miss lol. deck plate mod is still super easy without having to open the engine or gearbox. Literally pull the air intake box out, cut a big ass hole in is, silicone in a deck plate from a boat and send it. I noticed when I did my deck plate it brought my "umph" back to stock after I went with the bigger tires (235's). I'll prolly end up doing the ebay turbo route in the end years later like u said or piece one together, and take to a local fab shop for them to install. probs won't happen for a long time tho, regearing isn't too bad If you find a rear end at a junk yard and take to someone to do. neither turbo or the regear i'd attempt on my own unless u got days to burn . keep us updated tho, would love to see how ur turbo goes and maybe base my own off it. 5 lugs are super fun trucks, lots of people on here say to stay away from them due to their difficulty of modding and being vastly limited. I love to see people build them up, cheers!
