Lots of these 3rd gens have the 2k vibration. Honestly who cares. I barley notice it unless I’m paying attention or on a long trip.

We’re up in the Allegheny national forest running fire service roads and trails and the last thing on my mind is a buzz in the steering caused by exhaust harmonics !

My 2019 Tacoma SR has an intermittent, cyclical vibration somewhere in the front. It starts at about 40 and ends at about 60, or at least its not detectable. It is like a sign wave, on then off then on and repeating regularly at about a 5 second duty cycle. Its discernable for about five seconds, then goes away for about five seconds then repeats. It increases with speed between 40 and 60.

If I engage 4 wheel drive, it stops.

I have a Low Range Off Road leveling kit, 3 inch front 1 inch front . I installed the included differential drop brackets per the instructions.

I also have Spidertrax 1.25 inch spacers installed. I have replaced the tires with one size over Wildpeak ATs.

My first question is what do you think is the source of the vibration?
Second is it something that I should be concerned about?

I know that diagnosing a problem virtually is problematic but there are a lot of experienced people here and I am hoping that I might get some useful feedback.
    Thanks
    rob the elder

robtheelder - It sure sounds like needle bearing in front diff (drivers side)If it goes away when in 4 wheel drive.

My Tacoma has a low frequency vibration, or shudder, when I engage cruise control on the freeway. The vibration cycles on and off every 10 to 15 seconds. It isn’t necessarilly bothersome although it is quite evident.

The truck just broke 3,500 miles on the odometer. So to me this is just another one of the many shudders, vibrations and hesitations that seem “normal” driving this thing.

Your description of this vibration matches what my brand new '19 Sport does (stock truck, just passed 1k miles today).
It's not the tires, as I've replaced the stock Toyos with Falkens... same exact symptoms.
I've not tested to see if it goes away in 4hi yet.
This vibration is very noticeable as the whole truck shakes.
It seems to be worse when I'm engine braking.
My '16 did it too, but it was very faint.

I got lucky on my 2018. No vibrations at all, drives smooth like glass.

Mine is not intrusive. I just went over 8000 miles. Thanks for the feedback.

Out of curiousity, how do you like your 2019? Besides the vibrations of course. What did you do with the 16?

I like it a lot lol, now that I've made a few changes... except for the vibration. I went from an AC OR M/T to this DCSB Sport M/T so it's not exactly apples to apples. Much nicer interior on the '19, plus all the gadgets if you're into that.

I traded the '16. Sometimes I miss the AC, it was lighter and you could feel that. I also liked the OR suspension, but the Sport setup is tighter on the street.

Nice man! The suspension is definately tighter( my buddy has OR DC, i know.) Its great if you dont go offroading every day. It takes corners like a sports car.

Hows driving with the accumulator on? :D

Driving with the accumulator on is just fine.... now that there is free flow between the two ports ;)
