    Hello TW,

I’m brand new to the forum but have lurked and benefited from the community quite a bit. I got my 2015 Limited 4x4 Prerunner in May and have patiently waited till someone listed a used topper that would fit a short bed. I went and picked up this plasti dipped four winds topper with sliding windows for next to nothing this morning.

My main project is to replace the rubber lining at the bottom of the topper. It’s started to crack and needs to be replaced for better insulation. I’m a climber moving to Colorado and will be building out the bed. What should I do to replace the rubber underbelly of the topper? Is this an easy fix since there is water leakage on the passenger side corner? Where should I purchase replacement rubber?? I checked previous threads and didn’t find one to help out.

    Thanks!

Do you mean the rubber seal that mates to the top of the bed rails? McMaster.com sells all sorts of rubber strip if you can't find anything at Home Depot that's suitable.

The typical problem is getting the cap to seal at the front of the bed because this portion of the bed is lower than the sides. ARE caps come with a tall seal here to fill this gap. But even with the tall seal, I had some issues with the front corners and had to seal them with clear silicone. I also sleep in the back of my truck and my cap doesn't leak at all, so it is possible to get there.

Thanks so much! Wasn’t sure if there was going to be a special trick other than rubber. Glad to know it’ll be a simple fix. Thanks!

Get the thickness and width of the existing seal and shop away. It will probably be a material similar to the below, although the dimensions are probably slightly different. If your existing thickness is, say, 1/8, then the original seal was probably at least 3/16 and it compressed.

If you go to the upper RH corner of the link it will take you to the main pages to search for other sizes
