Front Brake Pad Part Numbers

    Have a 2012 Prerunner and am confused with the different OEM part numbers for front brake pads.

    From my research I have found

    Semi Metallic Pads (~$70)
    04465-04070

    Ceramic (~$50)
    04465-AZ100

    From what I've read they're interchangeable. Any experience with either?

    I believe my (2007 TRD O/R) was OEM Ceramic.
    I replaced mine with Ceramic. I like ceramic as they last a long time.
    They are not as hard on Rotors and they are usually quieter.
    Plus they don’t leave a lot of brake dust.

    I’ve used both on other vehicles.
    Semi-metallic work great. But wore faster and left brake dust all over my wheels.

    I will not comment on which is “better” as that can be argued both ways.

    Yes, you can use either type. But Ceramic gets my vote.

    Yes, they are interchangeable. I do believe the ceramic pads have a specific bedding in process though.

    So from what has been said, sounds like the ceramic is better than the semi metallic.
    40k miles on the TRD pads does not sound appealing when OEM can get more.

    One of the few instances when the cheaper is better?

    Normal Toyota pads are $20 less

    I found the TRD pads have good bite. Since I drive a lit of stop and go, crappy bay area traffic they are good for me. If you are looking for long life maybe the regular pads are a better option.
