#1 The side rails(they have the adjustable black plastic knobs) have to be removed to put the new brackets on to install the new side rails that come with the cover. Once the new brackets(aluminum) and new black side rails for the cover are installed, then the original black plastic side rails with the knobs can be re-attached on the bottom of the new aluminum brackets for use in tying down cargo.

#2 I wondered about the same thing. I did drill my bed and run the drain tubes through the holes. Have not driven the new truck in the rain after 4 months of ownership, so I can't really answer that. But I may in the future plug the drilled holes in the bed and also plug the drain ports(holes) in the cover with silicone.

I didn’t drill for drainage. Doesn’t rain that much here in So Cal and even after I wash it there wasn’t much water inside. I mostly just have Pelican cases for work anyways so not worried too much about it.

Check out the backflip f1 it's the best one they make. And if you buy one be sure to get a price quote from the autoanything dude on here. He saved me about $130 on mine.

I'm back and forth between the MX4 and the Diamondback HD. I'm leaning towards the Diamondback for it's more rugged durability, but man does that price tag my butthole pucker o_O
