yes, so just undo from frame, leave the rest as is all together, and just mount it to new frame?
i saw a video on TW recently, it looked legit
@CS_AR i think you had found a video of this?

It’s not as easy as you may think. There’s a reason the invoices for these jobs are $10-15k.

no no no. That is way too much of an over simplification. You unbolt the body, which also includes all the electrical, gas lines, brake lines, steering consul, all the stuff going into and out of the cab, and you need to disengage the airbags. Oh yeah, and you gotta disconnect your wiring harness from your computer, which resets it, so your truck wont start until you flash the fucking thing after you reassemble it. Then you move the truck bed and truck cab into your front lawn (you will break and dent the shit out your truck doing this by the way), and likely torque the cab trying to carry it with your buddies and in the process break a windshield or window. The engine and transmission will require a cherry picker to move piece by piece, followed by the drive train and axles. You need lots and lots of jack stands. And then you do all this in-reverse. And my description is a massive, almost disrespectfully, over simplification of this process. This is a huge job. Literally every single part in this truck is connected to your cab or your frame - meaning you will need to in some fashion remove every part of your truck and reassemble it.

OP, another option may be to find a competent collision body shop that can swap a frame, I remember asking a local collision shop about this earlier and iirc they quoted around $8k (from their computer) which included a new frame as well. Perhaps their labor rate is more favorable than dealer rate, just a thought!

It has nothing to do with dealers "milking" it. The labor rates are set by Toyota, and not the dealer.

Yep not about to take a chance, just don't have any $$$ for another truck. Seems as though it would be a very gnarly fix and tbh, I don't have/want to dump any more money into this. I just dropped 1000$ on the leaf springs, brand spanking new, bolts are still shiny.

To answer the question of where I am located, I'm in Montreal, Quebec.

IIRC, book time on my dads 08 swap was like 40 some hours. 2 techs knocked it out in 2.5 days once the frame arrived. Gotta assume around 25 hours if they worked two ten hour days.

Granted, Im pretty certain any given dealership has only a few techs that do the swaps, they do a lot, so they get fast at it. Probably too fast, as they messed up the backup camera wiring real good.

The tech who changed @Empty_Lord 's frame completely butchered the job.
