Wife gets hit this morning turning into work, guy gets out says "I was distracted" I wish people would just drive correctly. Truck looks great except rear bumper and of course the frame is crumpled in the typically Toyota spots. Bed closer to the cab on the lower portion vs the upper. We shall see what the appraiser says.IMG_20191002_081323097.jpg IMG_20191002_081355047.jpg IMG_20191002_081338548.jpg

That's infuriating because the truck looks to be in great shape otherwise.

Its the wife's truck, lol. This thing is her baby.

Frame is buckled pretty bad just forward of the hitch, and yes does suck as my Tacoma is in amazing shape!

thats fixable you will be ok as long as you use a good body shop. The important thing is that no one got hurt.

Bedsides seem like they are tweaked out also, Gap at the taillight's is larger at the top then the bottom. She was hit as she was making a right turn so it wasn't a squared up hit.IMG_20191002_110517268.jpg IMG_20191002_110828232.jpg

It can be fixed and if the bodyshop is good you will never have a clue it was hit.

Sorry to hear about the crash!! Glad that the wife's okay. I never care about the distracted drivers because they caused the accident, do thry can deal with the consequences.

Truck looks to be in amazing shape. A good frame shop should be able to get her all lined up again. The body damage looks minimal.

    Keep us posted.

Yeah the body damage is very minimal, small scratch where the bumper is touching the bedside on the driver side. My bumper I had powdercoated is messed up pretty good so that will have to be replaced. Appraiser is supposed to call me to set up an appt, got the wife into a rental for now because I'm not having her and the kid drive around with the truck comprised right now.

Distracted drivers should be beaten within an inch of their lives. Bet they won’t be distracted again.

Thanks, I think I'm going to need it. The more I look at the truck the more disgusted I am, inside bed floor has a hump in it at the 2nd set of bolts from the tailgate going forward. Also the frame isn't just bent downwards, its rolled over to the passenger side. This is evident in my first picture on post#1, the front most hitch bolt is pointing upwards instead of out to the side of the truck. Just sickening, stuff lie this makes me wonder why I even put time into keeping my stuff nice, someone always ruins it.

You can't live your life thinking that your stuff will get ruined so why bother keeping it nice. If you did that you'd never enjoy anything.

Plus, this only bugs you because your wife wasn't hurt. If she was horribly hurt, you wouldn't care about your truck. But because she wasn't, you're concentrating on the truck.

It could have been a lot worse. Just be thankful that your biggest concern now is about getting the truck fixed.

    Update:
Just got back from going to see my body shop guy I've known and used for years. He said it should be an easier frame pull since it isn't kinked and that the bed will go back once the frame is straight. They had just finished a white Tacoma last week for the same thing, he said they all bend like this when tagged in the rearend. Strong hitch and weak c channel frame, the frame is what gives. So now just waiting on my adjuster so we can finalize appraisal and get it the truck schedule for work. Also had to go get my estimate to powdercoat another rear bumper for him to add to his estimate. I will update with figures once I am updated. So for now looks like she lives another day.

Yeah the wife is happy to hear this news, this truck is her baby. Bought it new in 2012 and she has taken great care of it. They have her in a 2018 Silverado 1500 and all I hear are complaints from her...lol.

Hopefully get this thing fixed and then install my lift I have sitting in the garage!
