Wanting to swap my stock 265-70R16 wheels and tires to a set of 265-70R17 wheels and tires i have. The other wheel tires dont have TPMS. I'm really just curious to see how they look, but i wanted to ask if i will have any error messages if i take those wheels and tires with TPMS off and swap to non-TPMS even if its only for a short time.

Also would i need to mark which stock wheel/tire went where on the truck for TPMS reasons?

    No error messages immediately.

I run no TPMS in my snow tires and TPMS in my BFGs. Depending on whether my truck is in the garage or not the stock wheels will register when I have my snows on first thing in the morning and I can usually get 75% of the way to my work before the TPMS light comes on. As soon as I get home and I park close enough to the tires the truck sees the TPMS and the light goes away. When I swap back in the spring I have zero issues with the light.

That being said, I do plan on eventually getting the cloneable TPMS sensors for my next set of snows. To answer your question about location, I don't honestly know, nor have I given it much thought TBH.

Okay thanks for replays y'all, just wanted to make sure i wouldnt have to drag my ass to the dealership to get them to reset something.

On another note, anyone know if 265-70R17 rubs on stock OR suspension? Also wondering if the larger tires will stretch out the gears in the 6MT a little.

I’m looking at putting some snow tires on a second set of rims and it’s not worth the hassle or money for me to deal with the tpms bs. I do want to confirm though you’re just getting a light not a big error message that blocks your info display?

It’s just the low tire pressure icon that comes up.

There's only about 3.3% difference in those sizes. You probably won't be able to tell much difference, if any. o_O

It a government thing mostly to save fuel, because most people don't check their tires. For a long time cars never had this system.

It actually was born out of the Ford Exploder debacle way back when. The tires were failing at speed with no warning to the driver.

My light has been on steady for couple years now ever since i swapped to aftermarket rims with no sensors. No issues, and light does not bother me at all... the light will come on and just stay on steady, no beeps or annoying flashes.. but that is in my base 4cyl utility.. that may vary depending on what model u got.
