in other news, I've made about 49% in paper gains on DWT. Pretty wild. Oil prices have overshot their last price since before the Iran drone strike. Interested to see if it snaps back the other direction.

Is WeWork profitable? I have never even heard of this company until all the IPO talk lately.

No, they are the exact opposite of profitable, Wolf Richter has shit on them on his website constantly, and now that the IPO is (was) happening, people starting to talk more about how many of these IPOs are getting absolutely ridiculous.

Uber, Lyft, Snapchat, Dropbox, Tesla, Slack, Beyond Meat, Nio, Chewy, and countless others, all dog shit, that only went public when their cash-burning dumpster fires ran out of sucker private investors to leech money from.

This is an outstanding post lol

I invest in stocks because I am buying profit, paid in dividends. I also like growth, so choose wisely in that area as well. I don't understand investing in a company that doesn't make money, what are people thinking? Everyone who was going to get rich already did with these companies when they went public or raised rounds of private money (the early investors). It makes no sense to me, I guess people think they will be profitable. That's gambling to me.

To elaborate on prior sentiments-yes I agree some of these ideas are stupid and no way I would ever invest. With that being said, how are Uber and Lyft not making money? An app that millions of people use and they get a share of every transaction yet they continue to lose cash? Stop spending more than you're making!

Seems like some of these start-ups have their heads in the clouds and lost the fundamentals of business in the first place

And don't even get me started on this talk I hear of "new" capitalism where companies of today are focused more on social responsibilities than profit. I mean come on, that will work for just about long enough until the company is bankrupt. Which won't take long. The world has gone crazy.

Investors subsidize rides and drivers barely make shit. And at this point with Uber/Lyft it is simply a race to the bottom. I, as a consumer of investor subsidized ride sharing, will price check both apps and go with whoever is cheapest to my destination. Unless they collude to raise their prices (which I believe is highly illegal) then neither one can afford to take a massive hit to their market share by raising prices to a profitable level (at what level that is, is a million dollar question)

Tesla comes to mind, but then again they leech off government subsidies too, which is the only reason I can ascertain that their stock isn't nosediving like the rest of the CryPOs.
