2019 Warranty expired?

I just got a call saying my trucks warranty has expired? I bought the truck new in June, is this a scam? Was I supposed to do something for the warranty when I got my truck?

Scam. I got these calls with our Rav4 3 months after we bought it. I ignored them and just recently had to use the warranty with no problem doing so.
Do not give them any information.

 

The warranty is a performance contract between the owner of the vehicle and Toyota it can only be canceled in writing and agreed to by both parties.

 

No need to worry. These calls are quite common, unfortunately.

 

How did they get my information? I was also getting these letters in the mail that didn't even have my name right.

 

Did you apply for financing anywhere? Perhaps they sold the info?

 

Don't worry about it, just another delightful telephone scam. I got those calls when I was driving a 17 year old Tundra that hadn't been warrantied for 15 years, and got the exact same calls since I've been driving a 2019 Tacoma.

They're about as legitimate as the calls from the "IRS" saying that your social security number has been involved in illegal activity and they're going to arrest you unless you call back and provide your banking, credit card, and personal information.

It's absolutely nothing to worry about. They don't have your information, they didn't pick your number out. It's an automated system that dials random numbers.

 

These clowns use scare tactics to get you to buy their “warranty”. It’s a bunch of BS.

 

start the call when they ask you what is the make model and year of your vehicle tell them in your best Persian accent . twenty thurteen magggic carrrpet. and be persistent!

 

Your name, phone number, and address are public. Furthermore, they can transferable between parties/businesses.

 

I don't answer calls unless I know who it is. All others can leave a message. Unknown callers seldom do.

 

I answer all the calls and have fun with them. Most are from India or Indian dude and I tell them to wait a bit till I BBQ a cowburger. For name I use Ben Dover or Justin Case and address is 69 Uranus Place.
Most are too stupid to get the joke.

 

This is my first brand new vehicle.

Oh, well thanks. On Saturday I go in to the dealership to get my 5000 mile service. Are they going to turn off the yellow triangle or is that something I have to do on my own

They should take care of it. If not it’s in the settings on your info display on the gauge cluster.

 

A lot of DMV information is actually public. That is one way these scam companies are getting your info. On a side note also be on the lookout for letters/ postcards saying your warranty is expired or about to expire. These are scams also by companies just trying to take your money. Just toss them or better yet if there is a prepaid envelope send it back empty or fill it with shredded paper, cardboard, glitter, etc. The company has to pay for the return postage after you mail it.
