    I'm a lurker, but I just replaced both LBJ and outer Ties about a month ago and it wasn't too bad(not a mechanic at all, first time doing anything other than oil changes). The only real hassle were 4 bolts that connect the joint to the knuckle, for whatever reason I couldn't get my torque wrench to click on any of them... I over tightened one and it broke off. Blue loctite and tighten as best you can.

    '04 TRD 3.4l 4x4 5sp manual Xtraca & '96 4runner 4x4 5spd manual
    I have to use an extension on my torque wrench in order to get it to sit on those bolt heads properly. They don't take a whole lot, just 60 ft/lbs...I snapped one of those bolts once too and it got stuck inside the spindle. That was fun

    The idiot who owned it before me decided to cover up the rust with rubberized undercoat instead of remove the rust then undercoat. So they just sprayed EVERYTHING like idiots and now I’m left to clean up the mess lol
