taking a good hard look at building an offroad trailer. I've seen what smitybuilt and others offer.. at exorbitant pricepoints.. and seeing @Skierrichy 's trailer I felt it was worth while to look into... I looked into the M101 trailers, and a few others, but they are all rather old, heavy, and not available around here... and they are missing some features I would like to put on a trailer...

    my ideal trailer attributes:
*4x6' good size to start with, and nimble enough (and lightweight enough to get it around on the trail.
*independent suspension (not a requirement, but depending on cost may not be feasible/worthwhile (REPAIRS, PARTS AVAILABILITY, ETC..))
    * same tire size, and rim size/ lug pattern as the truck so only 1 spare is needed.. (looking at 17/8.5 rims, with 255/75/17 cooper ST MAXX
    * height adjustable mounts for my RTT & future awning
    * lockable/sealing swing doors 2 up front on each side, 1 large rear door
*rear hitch mount for recovery point, bike rack,,
*rear shackle points for recovery/decent control
*brakes (electric, or hydraulic... still looking into this)
    *table storage
    *jacks for stabilizing/leveling
    *bubble levels for tent setup
*10 gallons gas jerry cans mounted up front
*offroad hitch (no binding, less rattles)

future upgrades that can be done:

*solar 12v system for fridge, lighting, emergency jump starting, charging phone, camera etc..
*fridge/freezer (no more ice, or wet food in the cooler.., less weight) on a slideout
    *lighting for campsite/cooking
    *brackets for 270 awning
*LP plumbing/tank (quick connections) for remote stove/lantern...
*water supply- thinking 12v system with 15gallons onboard storage.
    *attachable countertop
    *reciever hitch vise
    *tool charging/ tool box

GLOCKAMOLE, Martyinco and Skierrichy like this.
