What brand is it? I am looking for a middle of the road unit. I do not need the top shelf model but also not the bottom of the barrel.

Vantrue T2 in my wife's 4Runner. It has a capacitor and runs of the OBD port. Sensor for motion when the vehicle is off. Installed in July and we have had several over 100 degree days. No issues with battery run-down or failure (including the first night where it was motion triggered 24/7 until I upgraded the firmware). Installed it behind the rear-view mirror and you cannot see it at all from the inside.

And GoPro in the Tacoma. I'm kind of testing which one is better quality and intent-wise between the two vehicles.

Sorry, mines a bottom of the barrel model. They usually go for about $20-$30 (free shipping from China). They're good for about 3-4 years...

Ok, here's one for anyone who has good knowledge of these. I know nothing about them but looking for a good setup that does not require a computer to download or watch the video. I don't have one but do have a phone. Hoping to have dual cameras and hopefully be able to use Gopro mount that's in the truck or something right behind the mirror.
    Thanks :hattip:

I was looking at the black vue 750 too, but it’s just pretty expensive. For the price and the quality of videos the ones I linked don’t seem bad. All you really need is an HD (720) video. There’s no need for 4K unless it’s a hit and run to see the plate clearly. But I think the blackvue 900 is the only one that’ll donthat

Currently using escort M1 DashCam that attaches to my Escort 360c radar detector. Need a rear facing one though.

Are the Blackvue cameras pretty good? I had a Thinkware and got rid of it because you couldn't mute it, and it used to drive me nuts with the lady talking all the time. One day in particular I almost smashed that thing with a sledge hammer. It was 110 degree Summer day and I backed into my garage, and shut my engine off. I wanted to watch some footage on it so I ejected the SD card, but I didn't wait until the power from it totally cut off. So then I drop the little tiny micro SD card in between the seats, which really pisses me off. So there I am starting to sweat and I keep trying to find it in between the seats, and this whole time the lady's voice is repeating over and over again "PLEASE INSERT MEMORY CARD. PLEASE INSERT MEMORY CARD. PLEASE INSERT MEMORY CARD. PLEASE INSERT MEMORY CARD." I'm guessing my neighbors heard me cussing that day. Thinkware sure knows how to make an annoying product.

So after a lot of research I think I've decided on the Blackvue 750. Only reason I'm not going for the 900 is they say the 750 is better at night. However I think I'm going to wait and see what new items come after Sema and Black Friday specials.

Expect people to be idiots and you are rarely disappointed. Brake sooner. Brake harder. Instead of honking, concentrate on braking. Scrub off the speed then steer smoothly towards the open space. Yeah, the Taco's brakes are pretty anemic, especially when armored, but you were nowhere near the maximum effective brake threshold. As @raidercraig said these types of accidents are big killers on bikes. Oncoming traffic was staring into the sun, so even a truck that would normally be seen easily will be harder to see. Now you know how motorcyclist feel. :D Happens all the fucking time to us. We know everyone is out to kill us, so we expect it.

Going to motorcycle school made me a better defensive driver. Flashing brake lots while stopped in traffic hoping get the attention of a car in the rear. Leaving a safe distance while following a car. At a light always leave extra distance that will allow you to get out of the lane should you anticipate the threat. Always expect the un expected and what’s your plan. I gave up on bikes, too many people view us a vehicle hood ornament.

I have the 750 dual channel. It's pricy but the quality is good. The app makes it easy to connect, view, and download videos. However, I don't know if it's got a capacitor. I find it has shutdown while I'm parked in the sun and it takes ~7 minutes for it to cool off enough to boot up. It only does this on pretty hot days, maybe around 95+ OAT. Now I'm thinking it's time to find a dashcam that doesn't have that issue...which sucks because I spent enough time and money researching and buying the 750.

Does the equivalent Thinkware model suffer from overheating? Do I perhaps have a defect in my dashcam?

You might try asking here. This guy tests them all.

Likely death yes, absolute death, no. I was in such an accident on a motorcycle about a dozen years ago. Broke my back, but I'm still here. While that type of accident looks unavoidable, I've replayed my accident in my head over and over again and there are things I could have done differently to reduce the chances that it would have occurred.

When I traded the Lexus in on the Taco I fucked up and forgot to remove the dashcam bracket from the windshield. When I realized it I went back to see if I could retrieve it but no luck. Car was loaded on a truck and shipped up north.

It can stick directly to the windshield so all i need it the proper double sided tape. Anybody know what kind tape I need? Does it come in the form of a pad?
